Idaho DMV Rolls Out New System

In October 2020, the Idaho Department of Motor Vehicles rolled out a new internal system meant to streamline internal processes and decrease the amount of Idahoan records. Thus decreasing errors and lengthy wait times. When the department went live with their new system, they experienced technical issues, which is typical when implementing any new system. The Idaho DMV Team is working all hours to refine the state’s computer system and customers at the county offices are experiencing extended wait times as a result.

Please remember, although many services can be handled online, many vehicle registration and titling services cannot. Their office allows for appointments and walk-ins, which are first come first served with a 1:00pm cutoff time for joining the walk-in line. With the recent technical issues, it could be weeks before an appointment slot becomes available and walk-in wait times can range anywhere from 1.5-3.5 hours.

Our office is more than happy to assist with your on-site DMV needs. We appreciate your patience and understanding while the state’s DMV Team makes every effort to fix the bugs with their new system. Please do not hesitate to contact our office with questions or concerns!
